Your gift will help elevate our climate program: mentoring teens in our Youth Climate Action Group to become climate leaders and finalizing a community-driven Climate Action Plan for the Methow. Collaborating with community leaders, numerous local organizations, and agencies, we are developing a long-term climate strategy for the Methow Valley. We see a future Methow that is adaptable, resilient and cultivates the following values:
Human health and safety – for all members of our community, especially those most vulnerable
Equitable and sustainable livelihoods – the ability to make a living for physical, spiritual and emotional well-being
Healthy and resilient natural systems – providing biodiversity and sustaining ecological integrity
Clean, and cold water – which enables the vitality of natural systems, agriculture, and livelihoods
September was a month of devastating climate events, as massive wildfires broke out amid record heat in California, Oregon and Washington. Climate change is already heightening wildfire severity in the West. North Central Washington is no exception. We are at a critical moment in history. Our actions and decisions today will set the course for decades to come.
