Our public lands are threatened by climate change. In the Methow, that can look like an increase in the severity, frequency, and intensity of wildfire events, decreases in annual snowpack, and an increase in drought. For the past two years, a group of nonprofits, businesses, agencies, and community leaders have been working hard to craft a Climate Action Plan for the Methow Watershed. Called Resilient Methow, this collaborative effort aims to create a healthy, vibrant, and adaptable future to climate change and ensure public and private lands can adapt to a changing climate.
We very much hope you will join us on December 10th for a virtual forum at which we will roll out the exciting results of this ambitious project. You will hear all about recommendations on how our community can reduce its carbon footprint and steps to prepare and adapt as our climate continues to change. This forum will also be an opportunity for you to learn how you can contribute your voice to the Climate Action Plan and be involved in realizing its vision.
