America’s most important conservation and recreation program, which has saved places in nearly every state and every county in the U.S., will expire on September 30, 2018 without action from Congress.
For the past 52 years the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) has preserved recreational access for hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities on public lands.
Washington State has received approximately $699 million in LWCF funding over the past five decades. The LWCF uses zero taxpayer dollars; funding comes from offshore oil and gas leasing.
Together we can save one of the most important conservation programs in the United States. The Land and Water Conservation Fund Coalition has drafted a letter to our Senators and Representatives, encouraging the reauthorization of the LWCF.
