The Comp Plan Has Arrived!

Okanogan County officially released their updated Comprehensive Plan and accompanying Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) on July 17th, 2019.

The Comprehensive Plan will set the stage for the Methow Valley’s growth and adaptation to a changing climate, increased growth, and limited water supply. It is extremely important that Methow Valley residents take an active role in shaping the plan. Land-use planning impacts our daily lives: what our landscape looks like, the health of our environment, the success of our economy, the future of water availability and how our community adapts to a changing climate.

The release of the Plan and EIS begins a 45 day public comment period, to include at least two public hearings before the Planning Commission.MVCC’s Land Use team will analyze the new draft with attention to the issues that were identified as important by our community, and provide suggestions to assist you in providing substantive comments that result in an end product we can all be proud of.
Save the dates! August 19th and 26th at 7:00pm are scheduled for public hearings before the Planning Commission in Okanogan. Plan on joining us at one or both hearings to speak up for our land, air, water, and quality of life!

MVCC is organizing two carpools for anyone who would like to attend the August 19th or 26th hearings:
1.) The first carpool will leave the valley at 4:30pm. This carpool will gather for dinner in Okanogan before the hearing. If you are interested in this option for either date, please RSVP to Raechel@mvcitizens.org so we can make reservations.
2.) The second carpool will meet at 5:30pm at the Methow Valley Community Center in Twisp and go directly to the hearing.
