Last month Okanogan County proposed an interim measure to update the zoning maps for the lower valley to mitigate potable water shortages.
MVCC spoke up at the July 15 hearing in support of adoption of the proposed interim zoning change, which bumps the minimum lot size from one to five acres below Gold Creek. We are still concerned that even with the change there is an inadequate quantity of legally available water to support the number of anticipated new lots (estimated at 2,275) in this reach. MVCC supports the recommendations of the Lower Valley Advisory Group and encourages the county to revisit their work.
