What can I do to Save the World from Climate Change?

For most of us, such a question is both daunting and overwhelming. Climate and marine scientist Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson gets asked it all the time. To help people answer what they can do about climate change, she created this Venn diagram, to explore where the overlap of joy, work that needs doing, and skills occurs.

We encourage you to try this exercise out! Take a look at the Venn diagram below, draw out your own diagram, and fill in your answers. Where do they overlap? You can reference the Methow Valley Climate Action Plan if you need ideas for what needs doing in the Methow (hint: it includes all sorts of fun things!). If engaging in this exercise gets you excited to start doing, send your circle or your ideas to Dana Golden at info@resilientmethow.org to get connected with existing efforts. It could be you stumble on something needs doing that isn’t being done. If so, you might be the person to do it! Don’t worry, you won’t be on your own, Resilient Methow will connect you with others who have similar passions.
